While inline skate boots always have a mounting distance (pitch) of 165 millimeters or 195 millimeters, this differs for skate boots. With skate boots, the pitch, or mounting distance, varies by size; a smaller size will have a smaller pitch. Because of this, not all inline skate frames will fit a skate boot, as the pitch might not match. Therefore, it's crucial to pay close attention to the different pitches when selecting a skate boot and a matching blade.
Thermoplastic skate boots: custom fit for your feet
A skate boot must provide sufficient support around the ankles. That's why many of these boots have a shell made of fiberglass or even carbon. This material has the advantage of being very stiff yet lightweight. Many skate boots are thermoplastic, meaning they can be molded using heat. This way, you can customize thermoplastic boots to perfectly fit your feet, creating a custom skate boot just for you!
