Combi-skates, soft boot skates, and high-top skates offer significantly more support and comfort than traditional low-top speed skates. If you're looking for comfortable skates with excellent ankle support and warm lining, without breaking the bank, then explore the diverse selection of combi-skates on this page. All these skates are unisex, meaning there's no distinction between combi-skates for women or men.
Broadly, high-top skates can be divided into two main categories:
We frequently receive questions about the difference between high-top and low-top skates. People often assume the distinction lies solely in the boot height. Traditionally, however, the difference referred to the blade: if the blade sits high above the ice, it was called a high-top speed skate (hoge noor). This distinction is less relevant today, and we now use the term "high-top skates" for models with a high boot. Our low-top speed skates (with low boots) can be found
High-top skates offer the skater excellent support and comfort but can limit the ability to adopt a deep skating posture. This is why many professional skaters prefer low-top boots. However, low-top boots are considerably less comfortable and less suitable for natural ice or for skaters who only go out occasionally.
All combi-skates featured on this page are in stock in our warehouse. We ensure all skates are professionally sharpened before shipping. If the skate factory hasn't already, we always apply a 23-meter radius to the blades for optimal performance.
Unsure about your skate size? Our general advice is to choose one size larger than your normal shoe size for your combi-skates, unless a different size recommendation is specified in the product description. To keep your combi-skates sharp, avoid walking directly on the blades. Always use plastic skate guards to protect your investment.
